Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come.
Rabindranath Tagore As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless…. Psalm 18:30a

We the Mokube, Misodi and Nanje families are deeply saddened but at the same time grateful for your support, sympathy and offer of condolences during this period of our bereavement. We are certain that our mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and sister-in-law (Mami Miss) who is gone to be with the good Lord is at peace to realize how much she is loved, because she loved so much, and may we all reflect her God given light. To God be the glory.
Ma Frida Mande Mokube née Misodi and popularly called Mami Miss, was born in Dikome Balue on November 19, 1932 by Pa Misodi James Itoe, a German Catechist and Ma Johanna Nyansare Basame, a peasant farmer who are all of blessed memory. Mami Miss attended primary school in Dikome Balue Basel mission and was among the first female children in the village to receive formal education.
She obtained her Standard Six Certificate now called First School Leaving Certificate in Dikome. She went on to attend the Teacher’s Training School in Nyassoso and would later graduate from the then top teacher’s training college in Africa, the Oron Teacher Training College in Nigeria.
Upon her return to Cameroon, Mami Miss took a teaching position at the Basel Mission Boys School in Kumba. Her husband, late Pa Paul Nanje Mokube traveled a lot for work and she saw her teaching career moved from one town to another. She taught in Tiko, Muyuka, Victoria Girls School, and Presbyterian School Buea, to mention a few. She was briefly the Head Mistress at a Presbyterian school but decided to move back to her passion, hanging out with infants in the classroom. Her zeal was to teach at a higher level in government and with encouragement from her sister, she enrolled into a rigorous government program for teachers in Buea. She would then graduate and after many years of teaching with the Presbyterian mission, she went on to assume a teaching position with the government. Her last school was the Government School in Kosala, Kumba where she retired.
Her teaching philosophy had always been to bestow unto young children, especially young girls, who were disadvantaged, a sound educational foundation. It was against this backdrop that her determination in ensuring that all her children receive that foundation was propelled. It should be noted that almost all of her children went through her classroom, which was very rigorous but compassionate. She was a great educationalist and many high level dignitaries from Cameroon can attest to her rigor and compassion in the classroom.
In 2000, she visited her sibling in London and later came to the United States, where she spent time with all her children, nephew grandchildren and relatives. In January 2008, Mami Miss returned to Cameroon and after a brief illness, she was called by the Lord on April 1, 2012. She leaves behind six boys, eleven grandchildren, three siblings, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and many family members and friends to mourn her.
